My last contract ended a little while ago, and I took this opportunity not only to rest but also to do things I didn't get to do while I was employed full-time.
Out of the several things I am doing with my spare time, perhaps one of the best was taking Luis Fdo Castro Cordero Digital Painting for TCG class through Banana Pan. Revisiting the fundamentals is always great, there's always something new to learn or old to improve.
We were tasked to design and paint the back of a card as well as a card illustration. For this, I decided to work with the theme of time, dimensions and the convergence of past and future.
To stick to this motif, I used symbols and tools related to time such as the hourglass, the pocket watch and the chronos symbol, as well as textures and materials to indicate old vs new. The clash of future and past is also present in the depiction of the character Hilda, a barbarian enhanced by mechanical prosthetics that enhance her strength and her lightning abilities.
It was a very fun and satisfying process, and the result has me happy and fulfilled! Thanks Luís for the very enlightening course and Banana Pan for making it available at an accessbile price!
I'll be sharing more of my work here in the future.
